Apple season is in full swing, but if you’re looking for a change of pace, why not try a pear cobbler? Autumn spices like cinnamon and cloves add warming flavor to this sweet dessert. Best of all, it’s easy to make vegan-friendly with just a few simple substitutions. So gather your ingredients and get baking!

And fall is in the air, and that means it’s time to break out the autumn spices! One of our favorite recipes here at the Vegan Bake-Off is our Autumn Spice Pear Cobbler. This dish is bursting with flavor, and it’s sure to please vegans and non-vegans alike. Here’s why our Autumn Spice Pear Cobbler is so delicious.

Autumn Spice Pear Cobbler: Why It’s Delicious

1. The Pears

The pears we use in our Autumn Spice Pear Cobbler are of the Anjou variety. Anjou pears are known for their sweetness and versatility; they can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. What makes Anjou pears perfect for our cobbler is their firm flesh. When baked, Anjou pears retain their shape, which allows them to absorb all of the delicious spices and flavors from the other ingredients in the dish.

2. The Spices

We use a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger to give our cobbler its signature autumn flavor. These spices are not only delicious, but they also have some great health benefits. Cinnamon, for example, has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels. And ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory compound that can help relieve pain and stiffness.

3. The Crumble Topping

No cobbler is complete without a crumble topping! Our crumble topping is made with vegan butter, flour, sugar, and oats. The oats give the topping a nice crunch, while the vegan butter ensures that it’s nice and moist. We think our crumble topping is the perfect finishing touch to this already delicious dish!
